The best part of our visit to Flor del Lago: a group of friendly kids who were excited to help us collect insects! Ainsley showed them how to work a sifter (to collect leiodids in leaf litter) and Elizabeth helped them break open logs to find click beetle larvae and carabid beetles. We talked about our research and insect diversity in three different languages-- Spanish, German, and English. These kids were GREAT at finding leiodids, too.
