As we were driving to the Puesco entrance to Villarrica National Park, we noticed that the landscape was a lot like California's Sierra Nevada mountain range. This is what eastern California would have looked like 150 years ago: high, jagged mountain ridges, scrubby conifer forest and lush little farms.
